soundoferror is dan burke working with synthesis and electronic devices in abstract and provocative sonic composition. dan is the founding member of illusion of safety and continues to perform and record under that moniker. he currently hosts the voice of reason radio broadcast on wnur 89.3fm evanston/chicago on mondays from 2-6:30 cst, incorporating the "patchworks" feature, focusing on primarily modular synthesis with a high contribution from members of the muffwiggler forum.

modern magic is the premier soundoferror release representing his first years of modular synthesis explorations recorded from 2010-2013. these tracks are semi self-generating patches with additional hands on manipulation performed in one take. a few minor edits for continuity have been applied. no external processing has been employed. a hybrid sergeurocan system was the machine involved.
